1 = Private – new to the mafia

2 = Corporal – 2+ years of service

3 = Sergeant – 5+ years of service

4 = Lieutenant – 8+ years of service

5 = Captain – 10+ years of service

6 = Major – 15+ years of service

7 = Colonel – 20+ years of service

8 = General – 25+ years of service

The people who created the term alphabet mafia intended to vilify non-heteronormative people by implying they were members of a secret, unsavory faction.
